Fishing on shore is a unique, peaceful Cayman Islands activity, and no one hardy ever tries it while on vacation. Going fishing from the shore is much cheaper than renting beach equipment, and it is a nice way to spend time with a family member. Waiting for a fish to bite the line is a great time to talk and bond, and there will be more things to talk about when someone catches a big fish. Getting started is easy, but there are a few rules you have to follow. When you fish from the shore in The Cayman Islands, you do not need a license if you catch and release. You do need a license, however, if you plan to catch some fish and then cook them. Catching and releasing is fun, and it is worth trying if you never have been fishing before. You will get your hand smelly, so you might need some hand wash soap if you plan to fish and then relax on the shore afterwards. Barker’s Point is great fishing spot, but you have to prepare before you go there. The best time to go is in the morning because you have a better chance of catching something. Be sure to stop by the angler shop in Georgetown or the bait shop near Hurley to stock up on the supplies you need. As for the fishing rod, many people like using a foldable rod on their fishing trips. A foldable fishing rod takes up a lot less space, and it is easily to carry to the beach after your are done fishing.
Fish on the shore is a nice way to relax in the Cayman Islands; however, you must always follow the rules. If you fish on shore without a license, you must let the fish go. If you want to keep what you catch, you have to get a license first.
